Coach Leslie Frazier turned to a familiar face from his coaching past to help him reinforce the Vikings' defense for the future.
Alan Williams, the Colts' defensive backs coach the past 10 years, was handed the defensive coordinator duties on Jan. 19. His predecessor, Fred Pagac, who oversaw the defense the past 22 games, agreed to stay on staff and return to his previous role as linebackers coach.
"The thing that really stuck out to me (about Williams) was how good of a teacher he was and how well he communicated and related to the players," said Frazier, who helped Williams coach Indianapolis' defensive backs under Tony Dungy's guidance in 2005 and 2006.
