Suddenly, the normally offensively challenged Devils have become a scoring machine, and because they have they've started to make up real ground in the Eastern Conference.

Bursting out of the All-Star break with four straight wins, Pete DeBoer's team has scored 19 goals (not counting the one you get credit for with a shootout win) and sat just two points out of fourth place in the conference after their 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh on Sunday in Newark.

By beating the Flyers and Penguins (and scoring 11 goals in doing it) over the weekend, New Jersey was sixth in the conference, a point behind Pittsburgh (with a game in hand) and three points behind Philadelphia.

Ilya Bryzgalov is finally getting it. He looks like the clear number one goalie while Sergei Bobrovsky looks like the backup. That was clear as the Flyers lost to the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, February 4. After Bobrovsky allowed six goals he was replaced by Bryzgalov.

New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for boarding Montreal Canadiens forward Mike Blunden during a 5-3 win on Thursday. The incident occurred at 18:54 of the first period. A minor penalty for boarding was assessed on the play.
